Wedding Guidelines

Guidelines & Fees

We are pleased and honored that you are considering Allen Memorial as a choice for your wedding ceremony or reception. This is an important part of your lives and your Christian belief. Our church is extraordinarily beautiful and is very old. Please remember that it is a church and that services should be designed in the spirit of worship for which this building was intended. If you need further information, please contact the church office (770) 786-7414 or e-mail us at amumc@bellsouth.net.

Reservations

  1. Please meet with our church secretary to discuss plans for the use of our sanctuary, chapel, and/or fellowship hall for the wedding and/or reception. At this time, the secretary will let you know if the dates are available. The secretary will discuss all fees with you. The secretary will then set up a meeting with you and the wedding hostess.
  2. When you meet with the church wedding host/hostess, they will go over the “Wedding Guidelines” and the “Policies Regarding the Use of Church Facilities.” Any items needed for the wedding must be decided upon at this meeting. If you have any questions about our guidelines or policies, please discuss this with the church wedding host/hostess before signing our reservation form. This is most important.
  3. Please identify your florist, caterer, director, and photographer. You are responsible that they comply with these guidelines.
  4. If you plan to use the minister of this church to officiate at your wedding, it is required to have a counseling session with him/her to discuss your wedding plans. If the couple would prefer to use another clergyman to conduct the ceremony, they should make this known to the minister of this church. Our minister may then extend an invitation, making the pastor assured of his/her warm welcome here.
  5. Final approval of the wedding application is made by the pastor of Allen Memorial United Methodist Church.
  6. Dates will be reserved on the church calendar only after the church secretary has received the paperwork and a deposit made for half of the total cost of the wedding.
  7. The marriage license should be given to the minister at least the day before the ceremony so he or she can fill out the marriage certificate and marriage license for the bride and groom to take with them.

We want your wedding to be the most meaningful and impressive wedding possible. The above suggestions and rules have been made to make yours exactly that. May God bless you in these days of preparation for one of the most important steps in your life.
